During my studies, I had the opportunity to spend one semester at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Vienna, where I attended the painting restoration studio of professor Wolfgang Baatz. Under the supervision of his assistant Anke Schäning, I gained profound experience with the method of tear mending in canvas thread-by-thread. I further explored this topic in my diploma thesis Methods of structural conservation of canvas paintings. The aim of this paper was to summarise the issue and the historical development of these methods, and to describe suitable materials, adhesives and tools. My practical graduation project involved restoring of a double-sided panel painting of the Crucifixion / The Last Judgment by Augustus Cordus (here I cooperated with Tereza Čádová), Bohumil Kubišta’s canvas painting Hradčany, and a Baroque wooden polychrome sculpture of St. Martin from Počerady. I also participated in a restoration examination of the murals in the Church of the Virgin Mary at Karlštejn Castle. In 2015 and 2016, I restored the murals of The Judgment of Solomon at the Franciscan Church in Kadaň.
