My paintings possess a raw colourful atmosphere in which we are confronted by bodies. The figures are anonymous, and the more we try to come close to them, the more we realize that they are merely physical means for depicting situations that I find unpleasant. Through collage, I incorporate parts of the body into the pictures that suit me. I quickly cut them apart as if appropriating this material and thus compensating for the impossibility of possessing the body myself in real life or becoming more intimate with it. The present bodies are silent partners, objects containing an inner sexual confrontation with painful existence. The melancholically quiet execution preserves their unspoken mystery. Often, they are characters joined in a literally brutal, neurotic relationship. This tension is depicted through an inner oppressive tension related to real events going on around it. The body is felt in its world, but presents itself defensively as another body that has escaped control in relation to what is going on inside.
