The aim of the studio is to develop a broad range of approaches to contemporary sculpture and its stylistic possibilities (object-based sculpture, abstraction, figural sculpture, installations, and new media) in relation to the material and its use in the architecture of public space and the landscape.
Instruction emphasises the idea. The content of a work should determine its form, choice of materials, technique, and its relationship to its surroundings. The sculptor should remain aware of the setting for which he is creating his work within the context of today’s globalised world of interconnected cultures. The studio aims to develop a diverse range of talents. Students learn basic sculptural techniques and approaches, and are given the chance to explore various crafts and techniques. Instruction is individual and is intended to teach the students the ability to realize their original ideas.
