The Studio of New Media II offers students the chance to study the latest artistic forms and approaches involving the use of a broad range of digital and electronic technologies, either separately or in combination with other media. The main focus of instruction is on the moving image. We explore the possibilities of the moving (technological) image, its nature, and its specific characteristics in comparison with and in relation to the physical image, thus allowing for a deeper understanding of the artistic process and the question of visual language and of the image per se. An openness to multiple media is one precondition for working in our studio, which also presumes a multifaceted approach to themes and approaches, which are developed in accordance with the student’s personal inclinations. We aim to create the conditions for individual as well as collective work, where the students themselves are the directors and catalysts of their own artistic activities. The goal of student-teacher communication is to promote the students’ originality and their ability to take a firm stance towards the world and themselves. Within this context, we offer assistance in finding the right tools and various forms of expression. Besides a professional relationship to work, we also emphasise the search for an original style, the ability to experiment, fine-tuning one’s personal taste, building critical attitudes, and developing a sense of civic responsibility.
