In view of the wide range of sculpture studios at AVU, our goal is to promote our students’ willingness and ability to work in three to four dimensions. Besides static sculptural forms, we also offer the chance to work with space, time and context. We endeavour to study the perception of the sculpture and object in an open relationship to these dimensions, to transcend them, reject them, and reinvent them. In practice, this involves working with technology, placing sculptures into unusual social or cultural contexts, or experimenting in public space. These are but a few of the possibilities open to our students, and each can be a separate chapter of exploration. We expect our students to come up with their own questions and subjects for in-depth study. Our task is to help them find the proper tools for finding answers.
